Collection: Filet

Filet lace trim is one of the oldest methods of designing lace patterns. Crocheting or darning the design over a square mesh net that is shaped like a grid creates filet lace designs.  This net can be either knotted or woven.  Darning the thread in and out of the net that forms the backdrop forms the design.  The trademark of filet lace trim is the one-dimensional geometrical design that can be crafted in the form of an animal, a flower, a tree, a pattern or even a portrait.  Households often include decorative items that have been created using the filet lace method.  Some of these items include:  doilies, runners, tapestries, and tablecloths.
